Synagogue services are led by a rabbi, cantor or a member of the congregation. Within their worship, traditionally a minyan (minimum of 10 adult males) is required to take place. The synagogue is emphasised as a place of study, hence the Orthodox and Chasidism using the word “shul” for the Synagogue (meaning school). Synagogue is a Greek translation of Beit K’nesset and means place of assembly. This emphasises the importance of Jewish belief in community or Kehilla.
